ARCH1340 Building Codes: Commercial

This course will introduce the student to the organization, use and impact of the International Building Code in the design of buildings.

Identify fire-resistance rating for construction assemblies
Determine plumbing fixture requirements
Classify types of construction
Assess plans for code compliance
Complete code review for commercial building
Complete energy code compliance applications

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.
