Overview

The Music Business and Entrepreneurship (MUBE) diploma is designed for students who are interested in creating successful and sustainable careers in a rapidly changing artistic environment. Course work promotes the development of the business and entrepreneurial mindset critical to the creative musician.  The program utilizes industry-specific methodologies to help students develop entrepreneurial, creative, and small-business skills. Courses for the program are delivered in a mix of classroom and online formats.

Solve music business problems using critical thinking and decision making techniques

Demonstrate an understanding of essential financial skills and industry revenue streams in creative ventures

Analyze music industry trends and consumer behavior

Develop a business plan for a new music venture

Demonstrate collaboration skills necessary in creative environments

Career Opportunities

Starting and managing a music-related business is a promising career for many musicians and artists. Minnesota has a rich history in the music industry, and the allure of entrepreneurship is strong.  In addition to entrepreneurial opportunities, and depending on qualifications and experience, numerous positions are also available to graduates such as music industry producer, artist manager, music marketing representative, social media marketing, music entrepreneur, music copyright data analyst, promotions coordinator, social media marketing, media sales, and venue manager.
