ARET1130 Maintenance Operations
In this course the student will learn about drills, drill sharpeners, drill presses, bandsaws, pedestal grinders, sandblasters, oxy-acetylene MIG and Arc welding, and lubrication. Students will build a project from a blueprint. This course also includes the basics of machinery maintenance, lubrication and the use of the machinist's handbook plus equipment manufacturer's catalogs to specify machine components. This course will cover the characteristics of hazardous wastes and its safe handling, storage, and disposal.

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Credit Details section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
