ARET2150 Engineering Design and Fabrication
This course provides students entering the fields of Mechatronics and Packaging with an overview of Computer-Aided-Design (CAD) software used to create mechanical systems and electrical systems. Students will design, assemble and create blue prints for several mechanical systems utilizing a 3D design software. Students will utilize a second software to learn about the creation of electrical schematics, focusing on control systems and 3 phase power circuits.

Learning Outcomes
The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Create assembly models with CAD software
Analyze prints as applied to industrial components
Utilize measurement tools to reverse engineer a product
Create electrical schematics, panel drawings and bill of materials using CAD
Identify different types of electrical schematic symbols
Analyze the relationship between a schematic drawing and a panel drawing

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.
