ABCT1020 Emerging Technologies in Auto Body

This course explores the latest advancements in Auto Body repair and technology, focusing on cutting-edge tools, techniques, and materials used in the evolving automotive industry. Students will gain hands-on experience with modern repair systems, including advanced driver- assistance systems (ADAS) calibration. Through practical projects and theoretical study, students will be introduced to the skills required to address the challenges of working with emerging automotive technologies, ensuring vehicles meet safety and aesthetic standards.

Learning Outcomes

The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Distinguish techniques used to repair ADAS, such as lane departure, collision avoidance, and parking assist technologies

Assess repair work to ensure it meets manufacturer specifications and safety standards

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE).  Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.  Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
