CCDS1160 Career Exploration Workshop
This course introduces students to the career exploration and planning process. It commences with an individual assessment of interests, skills, values, and personality and culminates with the student determining a career action plan. Career research introduced in the class includes perusing career database information, conversing with professionals in the field, and seeking out real-world work experiences in the student’s potential industry.

Learning Outcomes
The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Assess personal interests, skills, personalities and values related to career choices
Identify a variety of occupational and experiential career search resources (e.g. career databases, informational interviewing, & volunteering, etc.) to explore options
Utilize the career decision making/planning process to evaluate information gathered about one’s self and the world of work
Develop a career action plan to meet one’s career and educational goals

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
