MGDP1000 Fundamentals of Digital Technology
Fundamentals of Digital Technology offers a comprehensive introduction to the Macintosh Operating system including; file management, compression methods, filesharing with Airdrop, cloud-sharing services and file attachment techniques. Navigating today's technology-driven world through the lens of a Mac. Hands-on learning activities and practical exercises will challenge students to gain proficiency in fundamental areas such as basic computer usage, internet navigation, email etiquette, and productivity tools. Computer literacy is addressed in this course.

Learning Outcomes
The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Demonstrate basic computer skills, including file management, software navigation, and system customization on a Macintosh
Navigate the internet effectively using search engines, web browsers, and online resources for research and communication
Practice proper email etiquette for professional and personal correspondence, including composing, sending, and managing emails
Develop information literacy skills to evaluate and ethically use digital information from various sources critically
Explore social media platforms responsibly and effectively for professional networking

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
