PLBG1031 Plumbing Calculations
This course will apply mathematics to plumbing calculations in developed lengths of pipe, fitting allowances, offsets, area, volumes, diameters, weights and pressures. Students will also use formulas common to the plumbing industry.

Qualifying score on reading assessment test OR
ENGL0901

Learning Outcomes
The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Solve formulas, decimals, fractions, square roots, angle measurement and conversion of length measurement
Calculate allowances for pipe fittings
Calculate equal spacing, angles and elevations of grade
Solve forty five degree diagonals and pipe lengths
Solve various center to center and end to end pipe calculations
Calculate rolling offsets, slope and pitch
Solve pipe length calculations
Calculate water measure, rectangle solids and cylinders
Solve parallel offsets, water pressure, head and force

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Credit Details section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
