ARSP2120 Digital Audio Theory (Pro Tools 101/110)

This course covers principles and practical applications of digital audio recording and editing, emphasizing disk-based random access systems.  Successful completion of this course will result in the completion of the Pro Tools 101/110 curriculum and enablement to take the AVID Pro Tools 101/110 certification exams.

Learning Outcomes

The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:

Demonstrate use of basic digital audio recording and editing techniques
Demonstrate use of current DAW software applications
Demonstrate use of computer history and components
Personalize application preferences
Identify industry standard Pro Tools systems
Develop customization of Pro Tools preferences
Complete application exercises
Demonstrate destructive and non-destructive editing

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.
