MMVP2025 Interactive Game Design

This course will focus on the exciting field of casual online gaming. Students will explore how the casual gaming market is revolutionizing the world of game design. Using game development frameworks, students will create an original game concept.

Learning Outcomes

The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Evaluate game design
Create game concept
Utilize sprite sheets for animations
Integrate game design and programming
Develop user interface and controls
Utilize game development frameworks
Demonstrate collision detection methods
Integrate visual and audio assets into games
Apply testing and usability principles to game design
Produce a finished game for game portal or contest submission

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Credit Details section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
