MMVP2615 DaVinci Resolve

DaVinci Resolve is the most advanced editing, visual effects color correction, and audio post production solution for feature films, television shows, and commercials. This course covers the basics of editing, color correction and audio. The course is hands-on practice to introduce students to DaVinci Resolve software, a revolutionary 64-bit color correction application.

Prerequisite

Basic computer skills and understanding of Internet strongly recommended for successful course completion. MMVP1600 or equivalent

Learning Outcomes

The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Identify and demonstrate the various keystrokes used during non-linear editing.
Demonstrate video digitizing and transcoding techniques.
Demonstrate importing video footage and/or still photo techniques
Demonstrate video clip placement on the timeline sequencer
Demonstrate the cutting techniques for a video clip on the timeline
Record the final output of the DaVinci Resolve timeline to digital file
Create a final 5-minute editing video sample with DaVinci Resolve
Evaluate different editing styles and techniques
Demonstrate the digitizing of video for DaVinci Resolve
Demonstrate basic color correction
Demonstrate creative color grading for final output

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE).  Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.  Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
