ACCT2900 Small Business Accounting Simulation
This course is designed to provide a successful transition from the students' academic training to the workplace environment. The students are required to use a variety of their accounting skills in a simulated accounting position. It is intended for accounting students who are near the end of their degree program.

Learning Outcomes
The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Set up the accounting system for a small business
Perform typical accounting-cycle activities
Prepare a financial depreciation schedule
Prepare a MACRS (Modified Accelerated Cost Recovery System) depreciation schedules
Records month-end adjustments
Record payroll
Prepare basic financial accounting documents
Construct lease schedule using excel software
Perform a bank reconciliation
Prepare federal payroll documents
Prepare federal income tax documents
Communicate rationale for decision making

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Credit Details section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
