MHTT1600 Advanced Diagnostics

This course will instruct students on the latest technologies used in troubleshooting engine, transmission, and Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS)/safety systems used in current model year on- highway trucks.

Learning Outcomes

The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Demonstrate engine troubleshooting and repair
Demonstrate transmission troubleshooting and repair
Demonstrate ABS/safety system troubleshooting and repair
Identify Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) diagnostic tools
Demonstrate parameter changes in OEM software programs
Diagnose no start conditions due to transmission faults
Demonstrate transmission software updates
Diagnose datalink communication faults

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE).  Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.  Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
