ACCT1210 Finances for Business Startups
This course will help an individual to understand the financial skills and responsibilities necessary for a startup business. Topics covered include an understanding of legal business structure, payroll, and taxation.

Learning Outcomes
The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Contrast the difference between a sole proprietorship, LLC, and a partnership
Apply for a MN tax ID
Explain the difference between a W2 and a 1099 contractor
Calculate quarterly estimated tax payments
List the benefits of outsourcing payroll
Explain the elements of a payroll check
Construct a 1040 C Schedule
Describe the tax implications of a sole proprietorship
Calculate sales tax liability for online sales

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
