BUSN1045 Principles of Personal Finance

This course provides students with the essential skills to manage their finances effectively and confidently. Students will explore financial psychology, income strategies, banking systems, credit management, risk protection, budgeting, and investing fundamentals. Through practical applications, they'll create personalized financial plans tailored to their unique goals while learning to avoid common money mistakes. The course bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-world financial challenges, preparing students to make smart financial decisions from college through retirement. Students will be exposed to the financial literacy needed for lifelong financial security and independence.

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE).  Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.  Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
