ARSP2247 Video Systems
Video is everywhere in our lives. Technicians need to have a basic understanding of the signal characteristics, cabling, and distribution requirements of video networks. In this class we will look at different types of video files, resolutions, and distribution methods. Types of projectors are explored, and their adjustment and alignment will be performed. Types of connectors and distribution over IP (Internet Protocol) networks will also be addressed.

Learning Outcomes
The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Describe various video formats and resolutions
Explain various video codecs, file types, and high bandwidth digital content protection
Determine differences between video connectors and their benefits and drawbacks
Analyze projector types and their operation
Identify differences between screen types, gain, and color, and distance to audience
Perform throw ration calculations
Align 2 projectors to combine lumens
Identify various processing equipment, and their uses
Configure a distributed serial digital interface (SDI) video system
Examine video over IP (internet protocol) setups
Design and assemble an IP video system

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
