ARSP2606 System Control
Audio video systems integrators need to have a basic understanding of the operating principles and equipment used in the control of integrated Audio Visual (AV) systems. This includes wired and wireless types of radio frequency (RF) and infrared (IR) control systems as well as internet protocol (IP) control on networks. Students in the course will gain hands-on experience in the equipment used for installing, programming, testing, and troubleshooting systems control devices.

Learning Outcomes
The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Identify the function of basic components used in system control
Explain the basic operating principles and devices used in infrared systems
Identify the various types of devices used in infrared systems
Describe the operating principles of a Bluetooth setup
Describe and utilize general-purpose input/output (GPIO) control
Design a signal path using a digital signal processing (DSP) box and software
Explain recommended standard 232 (RS-232) and its uses
Configure a DSP unit to access a Dante Network
Create a signal path through the DSP device
Utilize the DSP device and wall touch panel to select multiple audio inputs and control their volume
Create a conference room mic ducking situation using the DSP device
Program various touch panels

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
