ITEC1421 Network Admin 2
In this course, students explore switching and routing architectures used to support and secure local area networks (LANs) and virtual local area networks (VLANs). Students will configure networks and resolve common issues with protocols in both IPv4 and IPv6 networks.

Learning Outcomes
The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Identify the stages of the router boot sequence
Configure a switch and router with initial settings
Secure switch and router access
Configure a router and switch interfaces for IPv4 and IPv6
Compare store-and-forward and cut-through switching
Describe the benefits of VLANs
Configure inter-VLAN routing on Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches
Implement spanning tree protocol (STP)
Configure EtherChannel to increase the overall speed of switch-to-switch communications
Explain how to support network reliability using dynamic addressing and first-hop redundancy protocols
Configure switch security to mitigate LAN attacks
Configure DHCP services for IPv4 and IPv6

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
