FDAS2005 Ford Warranty Responsibilities

This course offers students a comprehensive study of fundamental vehicle services and systems as encountered in dealership settings. Students will delve into Field Service Actions (FSAs) training and new model training, gaining a deep understanding of these critical aspects. The course emphasizes the intricacies of completing proper warranty claims, aiming to enhance communication between Ford, dealership administration, and service technicians for efficient claim submission and faster payment processing. 

Throughout the course, students will reinforce their understanding of topics covered during on-campus terms. By mastering these essential skills, students will achieve proficiency relevant to future coursework and employment in the automotive service industry.

Learning Outcomes

The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Demonstrate the ability to create clear and concise technical documents for automotive systems and components
Develop skills in using industry-standard terminology and jargon effectively to communicate technical information accurately and professionally
Apply principles of effective document design to enhance readability and comprehension in technical writing for automotive purposes
Evaluate and integrate multimedia elements, such as photographs, into technical documents to enhance understanding and engagement
Demonstrate proficiency in researching and gathering technical information from reliable sources, including manuals, specifications, and technical experts, for inclusion in automotive-related documents. 
Practice writing procedures and instructions for automotive tasks, such as maintenance procedures using clear and logical sequencing
Develop skills in writing technical reports and documentation for automotive projects, including analysis of data, findings, and recommendations 
Collaborate effectively with subject matter experts and engineers to gather information and ensure accuracy in technical writing projects related to automotive technology 
Apply best practices in editing and proofreading technical documents to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to industry standards and guidelines

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE).  Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.  Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
