FDAS2510 Ford Advanced Electronics

This Instructor-led classroom/Lab course provides hands-on diagnosis and testing of Automotive Electronic Systems, including hard fault and intermittent module and network concerns, using Integrated Diagnostic Software (IDS), Work Shop Manual (WSM) and Professional Technician Society (PTS.)

Learning Outcomes

The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Perform intermittent network and module diagnosis
Locate hybrid vehicle components (on-vehicle)
Demonstrate the ability to properly program module software and diagnose module software related concerns.
Diagnose hard fault module and network concerns using Integrated Diagnostic Software (IDS) advanced tool functions.
Summarize the service publications/wiring diagrams for plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles.
Identify PIDs and correctly identify engine operating conditions.
Distinguish between a cranking and running hybrid gasoline engine.
Employ the vehicle in the engine cranking diagnostic and engine running diagnostic modes
Identify plug-in hybrid EVAP system operation
Diagnose various plug-in hybrid concerns and DTCs

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE).  Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.  Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
