HVAC1060 Low Global Warming Potential (GWP) Refrigerant Certification

This course will prepare the student for the different procedures needed to work with A2L (low GWP) refrigerants that are being used in the HVAC/R industry.

Learning Outcomes

The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Compare the different classifications of refrigerants
Compare the flammability classes of refrigerants
Identify characteristics of blended refrigerants
Analyze refrigerant/oil compatibility
Determine new safety/service procedure requirements for A2L refrigerants

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE).  Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.  Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
