In this course, students will apply their data center knowledge and skills to explore Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) principles and solutions. Students will explore strategic data center operations and how they drive business objectives. Students will identify data center threats and vulnerabilities and identify risk mitigation steps.

Analyze the impact of cloud services and data storage on organizations and society
Create a formal data center Commissioning Plan
Implement basic data center projects
Describe critical tasks in a data center maintenance program
Manage data center assets
Create a basic budget for data center operations
Develop a staffing plan for a data center operations team
Evaluate data center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools
Identify risk mitigation steps in a data center
Review appropriate policies and procedures required for data center operations
Perform a business impact analysis
Engage in incident management and disaster recovery planning

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE).  Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.  Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
