MUBE1010 Technology Tools for the Music Entrepreneur

This course surveys technologies required to create and produce engaging content in the music industry. Topics introduce students to tools used in music production, music information retrieval, musical interfaces, and mobile music production.

Learning Outcomes

The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Demonstrate basic technological proficiencies and computer skills
Describe the history of music technologies
Develop aesthetic values in music production
Develop skills in home studio production
Apply media tools to solve creative problems
Research industry standard technologies used in the music production
Research industry standard technologies used in content creation
Apply theory, practice, and techniques within the multi-media arts
Create projects utilizing an assortment of media tools

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE).  Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.  Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
