Overview
This diploma prepares firefighters to be able to perform the duties of a company officer. This will include the areas of basic management, tactics, inspection, fire investigation and incident management which meet the requirements of NFPA 1021.
Award Outcomes
Perform the required duties of a fire company officer
Identify the dangers associated with various emergency situations and apply the proper safety procedures for responders and the public
Describe the legal and regulatory duties and responsibilities of the fire department as a public organization
Interpret professionally recognized standards, rules, and behaviors and apply them to fire department operations
Be able to integrate the incident command system and its component parts into daily work assignments and all emergency response settings
Demonstrate knowledge of fire ground strategy and tactics
Demonstrate effective oral and written communication
