FRPT1285 Fire Protection Hydraulics and Water Supply
This course provides a foundation of theoretical knowledge in order to understand the principles of the use of water in fire protection and to apply hydraulic principles to analyze and solve water supply problems.

Learning Outcomes
The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Apply the application of mathematics and physics to the movement of water in fire suppression activities
Identify the design principles of fire service pumping apparatus
Analyze community fire flow demand criteria
Demonstrate, through problem solving, a thorough understanding of the principles of forces that affect water, both at rest and in motion
Describe the various types of water distribution systems
Discuss the various types of fire pumps

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
