ITEC1443 Network Admin 4
This course focuses on enterprise networking, security, network management, virtualization, and automation. Students will configure wide area network (WAN) connections, implement IP security (IPsec) to secure virtual private networks (VPNs), monitor network operations, and prioritize network traffic. Students will explore the virtualization of network devices and the software used to automate enterprise network operations.

Learning Outcomes
The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Describe the goals of WAN design
Contrast packet-switched and circuit-switched WAN technologies
Describe broadband (DSL and cable modem) connectivity basics
Troubleshoot WAN connections
Configure site-to-site VPNs
Explain how data, voice and video are converged using a three-layer hierarchical network design
Describe the different quality of service (QoS) models used to ensure transmission quality
Identify tools and protocols used in network management
Describe different methodologies for network troubleshooting
Describe the virtualization of network devices and services
Explain how network automation is enabled through Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
