MUBE2010 Creation and Copyright

This course provides an in-depth study of copyright and trademark related to producing content in the music industry. This project-based course provides students an environment to develop their creativity in project planning and execution. Through assigned projects, students create content to promote a business idea or artist.

Learning Outcomes

The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Identify the history and applicability of copyright to creative work
Analyze digital media and copyright suits utilizing the case-study model
Explain the roles and rights of intellectual property in the creative economy
Demonstrate appropriate application of different licensing attributions and doctrines
Explain the process to file and register for trademark and copyright
Demonstrate distribution of music to streaming services and other media outlets
Develop a creative-content scenario from concept to delivery

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE).  Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.  Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
