SOCI2210 Family Violence (On Hold)
This course will take an in-depth look into the theories and findings of family violence. Stereotypes, effects of violence, treatment and outcomes will be addressed.

Learning Outcomes
The following goals will be addressed in the course.
Differentiate physical, emotional, and sexual abuse
Explain the effects of family violence on society
Explain the effects of family violence on the family
Categorize symptoms and signs of family violence
Demonstrate theories of family violence
Differentiate historical and modern patterns of treatment of family violence
Demonstrate research methods
Identify stereotypes of family violence
Differentiate patterns and abuse for children and adults

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Credit Details section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
