Overview
The Production Technologies certificate will expose students to the training, education, and skills to build basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and plant operations, generally for entry-level positions. Students can use the knowledge gained in this certificate to build upon a manufacturing career path leading to higher-level careers in Mechatronics/Automation. Students will receive introductory training in industry practices for safety, manufacturing processes, maintenance, and quality control including lean principles, Industry 4.0 and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

Career Opportunities
According to Minnesota’s Department of Employment and Economic Development, manufacturers are projected to have over 2,900 jobs available in automation, industrial machine repair, machining, and welding over the next 10 years. These careers pay above the statewide median wage.
