ARSP2121 Digital Audio Theory I (Pro Tools Fundamentals II)

This course covers basic principles and practical applications of digital audio systems and operations within a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW).  Successful completion of this course will result in the completion of the AVID Pro Tools 110 curriculum and will be the last step towards enablement for the AVID Pro Tools user-level certification exam.

Recommended: ARSP1100, ARSP1110, ARSP1130, and ARSP2155 or Instructor approval

Learning Outcomes

Compare computer systems for use in digital audio 
Demonstrate use of disk-based recording systems
Demonstrate use of intermediate digital audio recording techniques
Demonstrate use of intermediate editing techniques
Demonstrate intermediate use of current DAW software applications
Develop customization of Pro Tools preferences

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE).  Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.  Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
