ARSP2605 System Control
Audio video systems integrators need to have a basic understanding of the operating principles and equipment used in the control of integrated Audio Visual (AV) systems. This includes wired and wireless types of radio frequency (RF) and infrared (IR) control systems as well as internet protocol (IP) control on networks. Students in the course will gain hands-on experience in the equipment used for installing, programming, testing, and troubleshooting systems control devices.

Learning Outcomes
The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Identify the function of basic components used in system control
Explain the basic operating principles of infrared systems
Identify the various types of devices used in infrared systems
Explain the operating principles and applications of Bluetooth system control
Set up a Symetrix control box and get signal through it using onboard Digital Signal Processing to an analog output
Configure a Symetrix Digital Signal Processing box to take analog signal in and deliver it to a Dante Network
Utilize the Symetrix control box and touch panel to set up a system that can select multiple audio inputs and control the volume of them
Create a conference room mic ducking situation using the Symetrix control box and various mic inputs

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
