ARSP2556 Audio System Computer Modeling
The proper design of audio systems requires the accurate prediction of the system performance in the acoustical environment in which it is to operate. Audio video systems integrators need to be able to use computerized simulation tools to predict the electro-acoustical response of the sound system in the client’s venue. This information can be used to identify acoustical problems that may arise and can aid in the selling of an install job. This course provides basic instruction in the operation, use, and interpretation of Electro-Acoustical Simulation software. Students in the course will gain hands-on experience in the use of the software for room and loudspeaker system modeling and the prediction of numerous acoustical room-system measures.

Operate acoustic simulation software
Create and close a basic 3D room
Perform basic acoustical calculations in acoustic simulation software
Input multifaceted room system.
Perform advanced acoustical calculations
Create and model a speaker cluster
Perform audience area mappings
Analyze further acoustical options in a completed room
Create an auralization of a mapped room

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
