ARSP2310 Public Address Systems Design

This course covers the elements that go into designing a public address system. Students in the course will gain hands-on experience in the use of the software for room and loudspeaker system modeling, as well as the tools to optimize existing systems.

ARSP1100, ARSP1110, ARSP1130, ARSP1300, ARSP1310, and ARSP1320, or instructor approval

Learning Outcomes

The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Operate the Enhanced Acoustic Simulator for Engineers (EASE) software
Create a basic 3D room
Perform basic acoustical calculations in Enhanced Acoustic Simulator for Engineers (EASE)
Model a speaker cluster
Perform public address system optimization
Design public address systems for various spaces

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE).  Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.  Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
