ARSP2246 Audio Visual Networking

Video is everywhere in our lives. Technicians need to have a basic understanding of the signal characteristics, cabling, and distribution requirements of video networks.  In this class we will look at different types of video files, resolutions, and distribution methods. Types of projectors and their adjustment and alignment will be discussed.  Types of connectors and distribution over IP (Internet Protocol) networks will also be addressed.

Learning Outcomes

The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Describe various video formats and resolutions
Explain various video codecs and file types
Compare and contrast the advantages and disadvantages of various video systems
Analyze projector types and their benefits
Align 2 projectors to combine lumens
Identify various processing equipment, and their various uses
Examine video over IP (internet protocol) setups
Set up a video IP (internet protocol) system
Operate a video IP (internet protocol) system

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE).  Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.  Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
