Overview

The audio video technician program prepares students for entry-level work in the audio-visual field.  The curriculum is balanced between theory and hands-on training of all types of audio-visual equipment and has been developed to prepare graduates to obtain industry certification. Graduates acquire a strong background in electronics, as well as hands-on training in equipment operation for sound reinforcement, system installation, and acoustical testing.

Career Opportunities

Audio Video technicians are in-demand for many industry employers, ranging from fortune-500 companies to Audio-Visual installation contractors. The technician may be responsible for setting up, maintaining, and operating audio-visual and multimedia equipment for a wide range of events, from live performances to corporate events. Audio-Visual installation, setup, and troubleshooting often take place in any area of the industry. A strong attention to detail is needed as it’s very common to follow system drawings, wiring diagrams, and blueprints. Advancement opportunities are abundant for audio video technicians who obtain professional industry certifications. Employment opportunities are abundant in Minnesota and abroad.
