CELE2020 Transformers
This course covers the operation and installation of single and three-phase distribution and instrument transformers. The construction, markings and theory of induction will be covered. Multi voltage single phase transformer and all the three phase connections will also be covered in depth as will current and potential transformers.

Learning Outcomes
The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Demonstrate wiring methods of line voltage to the primary side of a single-phase transformer to obtain different voltages on the secondary side of the transformer
Demonstrate wiring methods of line voltage to the primary side of a three-phase transformer to obtain different voltages on the secondary side of the transformer
Demonstrate connections of a current transformer to a meter with a load to be read
Demonstrate the theory of operation of transformers

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
