CELE2160 Commercial Wiring II
This course covers additional materials and design aspects of commercial wiring. Load schedules, fusing, special outlets, lighting, lamp installation and selection are also covered.

Learning Outcomes
The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Identify and mitigate safety hazards, including arc flash, overload conditions, and grounding/bonding issues
Demonstrate proficiency in installing commercial-grade conduits, raceways, and junction boxes using advanced bending and support techniques
Perform wiring tasks for large-scale systems, including power outlets, lighting controls, HVAC systems, and industrial equipment
Calculate electrical loads for commercial facilities
Design power distribution systems that accommodate high-demand applications and future scalability
Use advanced diagnostic tools to identify and resolve issues in commercial wiring systems
Identify energy-efficient technologies for commercial wiring projects
Analyze strategies for optimizing electrical system performance to reduce energy consumption
Analyze emerging technologies and smart systems
Demonstrate proficiency installing specialized systems such as fire alarms, emergency lighting, and backup power systems
Apply the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant standards to ensure compliance in commercial wiring projects

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
