CDEV1160 - Replaced by: CDEV1020 Observation and Assessment

The student will examine the appropriate use of assessment and observation strategies to document development, growth, play and learning. There will be a focus on increasing objectivity in observing and interpreting children's behavior. Recording strategies, rating systems, multiple assessment tools and portfolios are explored. For this course students should have access to a child who is between the ages of 3 and 5.

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.
