FRPT2135 Fire Officer IV - On Hold
This course is designed to teach the student planning and management techniques used by a fire department administrator. The student will learn about budgeting, personnel and communication procedures, and planning and decision making techniques.

FRPT2130 or instructor approval

Learning Outcomes
The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Examine types of management styles
Examine city organization models
Compare different fire department organization models
Examine methods for handling conflict
Evaluate different productivity models
Demonstrate record keeping procedures
Prepare fire department budget
Compare the components of a firefighter and fire officer training program
Explore the fire chiefs legal obligations

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Credit Details section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
