ENGL1010 Business English - Deleted - May 2022

The majority of the time in this course will be spent on the spelling, grammar, punctuation, proofreading, and editing skills needed for success in the work world. Students will then apply these skills to produce a few short documents using correct English with appropriate formatting.

Qualifying score on writing assessment test OR ENGL0930 or ESOL0841

Label parts of speech
Identify parts of the sentence
Identify proper word choice from those that look/sound alike
Recognize phrases
Recognize clauses
Identify incorrect sentences/word groups
Revise text to correct sentences
Apply punctuation rules
Apply American standard grammar rules to business text
Write a business document

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.
