CCDS1200 Earning Credit for Life and Work Experience - "On Hold" - 4/6/2020

This course guides students through the preparation and compilation of components required for creating a prior learning assessment portfolio. The portfolio provides evidence that students have achieved college level learning outcomes required in courses taught at Hennepin Technical College (HTC). After completing the course and their portfolio, faculty will assess learning outcomes to determine college level credit.

Prerequisite

Qualifying score on reading assessment OR ENGL0921 and basic computer literacy skills required

Learning Outcomes

The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Map prior learning experiences that demonstrate college level learning
Differentiate between experience and learning
Write a reflective career or professional statement that is free from grammar and spelling errors
Generate college-level learning narratives that connect your prior learning experiences to college level learning
Organize and present supporting documentation in a persuasive way
Evaluate peer writing assignments through effective proof reading and critical thinking skills

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Credit Details section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
