NURS1242 Maternal Child Nursing (On Hold)

This course explores well-child care, and pediatric health issues. Pregnancy, labor and delivery, prenatal and post partum care are discussed. The importance of family centered care is emphasized.

Learning Outcomes

The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Chart the course of normal pregnancy
Plan care of a client experiencing complications of pregnancy
Interpret medical terms associated with labor and delivery
Explain postpartum care of the new mother
Examine multisystem nursing care for the child
Integrate characteristics of the newborn
Determine holistic nursing care of the child
Integrate cultural considerations of family centered care

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.
