ATEC1635 Advanced Vehicle Systems - Replaced by ATEC1636 - Summer 2024

This course will focus on Advanced Vehicle Systems operation, diagnosis, and repair. Students will be introduced to new high technology vehicle systems present on current vehicles. Future vehicle systems will also be discussed to prepare the student to work on emerging technology.

Learning Outcomes

The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Evaluate ADAS operation, and determine necessary actions
Analyze vehicle telematics systems, and determine necessary actions
Use scan tools and oscilloscopes in diagnosing ADAS and telematics in vehicle system components
Utilize service information to perform a step-by-step diagnostic procedure
Demonstrate compliance with current automotive industry safety and environmental standards
Perform vehicle repairs in accordance with industry standards

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty-two hours for each lab credit, and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE).  Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations, or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.  Refer to the Course Credits section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
