PHRM1030 Pharmacology - This course has been changed to PHRM1055
Students will study therapeutic agents, properties, actions and effects on the human body and their role in the management of disease. Topics include therapeutic properties, side effects, interactions, drug dosages and toxicities.

Learning Outcomes
The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Define various disease processes, patterns and pathogenic organisms
Identify drugs used to treat various disease processes
Recognize dosing intervals for drugs
Identify side effects associated with different drugs
Assess drug interactions and severity
Identify the mechanisms of drug action
Assist the pharmacist in reviewing medication orders and patient records
Classify drugs as to use
Identify the methods of drug administration
Classify drug stability and storage requirements

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.
