PHRM1000 Medical and Pharmacy Terminology
This course will provide the student with the basic medical lexicon and the structure on which medical and scientific words are built. These words are used to describe the human body, diseases and conditions, treatments and drugs, using root words, prefixes and suffixes.

Learning Outcomes
The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Utilize medical and pharmacy terminology
Associate medical terms with laymans language
Apply terminology to the practice of pharmacy
Articulate the correct pronunciation of medical terms
Formulate medical terms from their roots
Define medical terms and any associated abbreviations

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Credit Details section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
