ENGL0906 English Skills I - Delete

This course is designed for students who need to improve their grammar skills to be more effective writers. Students will study basic grammar, its usage, and end punctuation.

Qualifying score on writing assessment test OR ESOL0831. Basic computer literacy skills required

Learning Outcomes

The following outcomes will be addressed in the course: 
Classify parts of speech 
Define the roles parts of speech play in a sentence 
Classify basic sentence patterns 
Classify phrases and clauses Identify sentences as simple, compound, or complex 
Combine words, phrases, and clauses to create effective sentences 
Apply end punctuation and capitalization rules to sentences

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Credit Details section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
