EMSV1185 Critical Care Simulation Scenarios (On Hold)

This class will discuss and use High Fidelity Simulation in the medical field.  Purpose of this class is to use a team approach to demonstrate communication, critical thinking skills, leadership, and medical skills in a realistic environment using high fidelity manikins and computer based scenarios.  Medical patients will be emphasized.

Current EMT, RN, MD or completion of EMSV1100

Learning Outcomes

The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Show knowledge of the facts, principals, and theories that drive professional medical practice
Achieve clinical competence using a team approach that promotes appropriate patient care and communication
Demonstrate the capability to assess, set priorities, and provide medical treatment appropriate for the individual level of training
Perform skills using healthcare technologies that require high levels of competency
Actively participate in repetitive practice of high risk/low frequency skills

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE).  Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.  Refer to the Credit Details section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
