CARP1140 Engineered Roof Systems - Replaced by: CARP1141 - Summer 2023

This course will introduce the student to some of the engineer designed products used to support the roof on a house. Students will then use this information to build one or more roofs.

Learning Outcomes

The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Identify roof truss design
Practice handling and storage of roof truss
Determine installation requirements
Demonstrate proper bracing
Analyze sheathing application
Practice safe construction techniques

Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Credit Details section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
