METS1105 Manufacturing Fundamentals II (On Hold - May 2020)
This course prepares students to enter the manufacturing field by applying acquired skills in shop math, print reading, measuring tools, hand tools, shop safety, employment/life skills, metallurgy, and quality systems. Successful completion is measured by the student's ability to determine whether a part has been manufactured to customer requirement and specifications within a safe, effective work environment.

Learning Outcomes
The following outcomes will be addressed in the course:
Demonstrate appropriate lab conduct and abide by lab safety policies
Recognize the meaning of common lab hazard signs
Demonstrate proper use of lab equipment
Demonstrate a basic knowledge of acids, bases and buffers
Recognize the importance of hygiene on health
Demonstrate appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Explain industry specific safety and awareness compliance procedures
Explain the importance of accident reporting
Convey OSHA's role in manufacturing environments
Demonstrate lay out of parts
Identify mechanical equipment

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the Credit Details section of this course outline for the credit breakdown.
