OFCR1335 Medical Coding and Reimbursement Fundamentals - End Dated 12/23/24
This course includes an overview of ICD10 diagnostic coding as well as CPT and HCPCS procedural coding. Principles of complete and accurate coding for both statistical reporting and insurance billing will be covered. Exercises and case studies will be used to demonstrate requirements for accurate coding and claims processing.

Utilize reference materials effectively
Assign ICD10 diagnostic codes
Assign HCPCS national codes
Assign CPT procedure/service codes
Demonstrate code sequencing in multiple diagnoses
Link diagnostic codes with procedure/service codes
Describe basic billing functions
Identify insurance reimbursement methodologies
Outline specific payer guidelines
Complete insurance claims
Explain the Electronic Date Interchange (EDI) process

Course Scheduling
The scheduled hours of instruction include sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals.
